Discussion panel on the topic: "Heroes among us"

The main theme of the Fourth Edition of the International Festival of Ethnographic Cinema "OKO" is "The Heroes Among Us".

And it really is. First of all, these are soldiers who defend our freedom with weapons in their hands. These are also volunteers, doctors, teachers, utility workers, etc. These are living people. We meet them on the streets, in public transport, we get to know them through documentaries.

And how is heroism reflected in folklore and mythology? How does the hero appear in folklore texts, in particular in fairy tales, folk songs? What are the differences in Ukrainian and Bulgarian folklore traditions?

At discussion panel #2, we invited our experts in the field of folklore:

✅Galin Georgiev, Bulgarian ethnologist, author of a number of scientific works.

✅Olena Ivanovska, Ukrainian folklorist, doctor of philological sciences, professor of the Department of Folklore at the Scientific and Educational Institute of Philology at Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University.

✅Olesya Naumovska, doctor of philological sciences, associate professor, head of the Department of Folklore at the Scientific and Educational Institute of Philology at the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University.
