The documentary Change My Mind (Velký vlastenecký výlet) by Czech director Robin Kvapil, which was released in Czech cinemas on August 21, will be shown in Ukraine for the first time at the 6th OKO International Ethnographic Film Festival. The premiere will take place on September 10 in Kyiv at the House of Cinema.
The festival’s programming department made an exception by including the film in the NASHE OKO competition program after the official competition lineup had already been announced. The decision was made because the film focuses on Ukraine, has a strong anthropological dimension, and involved a Ukrainian production team.
The documentary follows Czech filmmakers who brought their fellow citizens — putin supporters and conspiracy theorists who publicly questioned the very existence of the war — to Ukraine, into the epicenter of the conflict. Around 140 hours of footage were shot, and editing took almost half a year.
After its Ukrainian premiere in Kyiv, the film will also be screened in Sofia as part of the Bulgarian edition of the “OKO” International Ethnographic Film Festival.
