The “OKO” Film Festival Holds Ethnographic Film Day at the Institute of Screen Arts

Updated: Oct 12, 2022

The “OKO” team has organized a screening of films for students of the main film educational institution of the country – Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Kary Theatre, Cinema and Television University on February 10.

There has been a meeting of the director of the “OKO” Film Festival Tetyana Staneva, the program director Elena Rubashevska and the technical director Yan Lelyuk with the future filmmakers during which the students learned about the Film Festival and watched some films by Ukrainian and foreign directors from two former editions and even from the future third edition.

Together, they traveled to several countries around the world, watching the following movies:

• This Ink Runs Deep (Canada, 17 min);

• Miss Curvy (UK (about Uganda), 25 min);

• Tales of men (Hungary, 9 min);

• Chamur (Ukraine, 28 minutes).

"We hope that this meeting will grow not just into friendship, but into fruitful cooperation and that this year we will welcome young filmmakers at our Film Festival: as volunteers or, perhaps, as participants!" – said Elena Rubashevska after the event.

Indeed, participation in the “OKO” Film Festival is a great opportunity for young directors to show themselves, meet colleagues, folklorists, ethnographers and arrange some future mutual projects, and just discover Ukrainian Bessarabia.

Recall that the “OKO” International Ethnographic Film Festival will take place on September 10 – 17, 2022 in Bolhrad, Odesa Region. Besides a non-competitive and competitive program with a prize fund, we’ll be holding numerous events: masterclasses, fashion shows, fairs, concerts, etc.
